“For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror.”

— Rainer Maria Rilke

Psychedelics can precipitate
powerful and memorable
experiences.

Sometimes the most moving, beautiful experiences in the world can also be filled with terror because we are being asked to hold so much. Sometimes psychedelics can feel like that.

Feeling your place in the universe; sensing your heart expand with love for yourself and your fellow creatures; seeing, or even reliving, moments of your life; watching scenes from nature or human history unfold; or any of the wild, confounding, perplexing, and achingly beautiful things we may experience on psychedelics can overwhelm us. For these reasons, it’s important to have safety and support in place for your journey.

Psychedelics create new connections and patterns in the brain, leading to vitality and renewal.

The term “Psychedelics” refers to a variety of psychoactive plants and fungi as well as synthetic chemicals that can produce altered states of consciousness. While each class of psychedelic substances works a bit differently, they all facilitate communication between different regions of the brain, generating potential insights and breakthroughs in how we understand ourselves.

  • Research over the past 25 years indicates that safe and supported experiences with psychedelics lead to a reduction in clinical symptoms and behaviors. I work primarily with psilocybin, the psychoactive compound found in the Psilocybe cubensis mushroom.

  • I approach psychedelic work through the lens of harm reduction and know how to optimize integration.

As a graduate of VITAL’s rigorous Integrative Psychedelic Studies program, my goal is to ensure that you have the support you need to integrate and process a psychedelic experience. Additionally, should you decide to embark on a psychedelic journey, I can help you clarify your intention and support you in creating the best set and setting for your experience.

  • If you’ve made the decision to explore psychedelics, then I work with you over several sessions to craft an intention for your journey and ensure you have the knowledge and resources necessary for a safe and valuable experience. Similarly, if you’ve already had a psychedelic experience, then I work with you over several sessions to process and make meaning out of your experience. Harm reduction is my goal.

  • Psychedelics work best for folks who already have done some self-development work—therapy, coaching, journaling, meditation, bodywork, etc.—and are curious to dive deeper. Being able to trust the process and tolerate uncertainty are skills that will aid you on your journey in addition to having a support system outside of our work (e.g., a trusted friend or partner). If you take the time to prepare and integrate, psychedelics have the potential to accelerate your timeline for growth and healing: in a 5-hour psilocybin journey you might feel like you did more work on yourself than you did in years of therapy.

  • Psychedelics are “non-specific amplifiers,” meaning they will amplify something—maybe it’s your senses, your feelings, your thoughts. Perhaps, they will surface certain biographical material or moments from your life. The volume will get turned up on something; we just can’t predict exactly what. However, you can expect emotional support and safety education from me.
