“Like a dense forest of firs, psychedelic healing requires a complex network consisting of care, community, connection.”
—Dr. Ros Watts
Integration is not a solo task
Integration entails making sense of our experiences and bringing them into the fold of who we are. In this process, we weave together different parts of ourselves or experiences we’ve had to form/create a functional, complete whole.
Integration is a vital component of the psychedelic experience.
Without it, we might be left feeling confused, adrift, upset, or wildly open and vulnerable. By sifting through our experience in a supportive container, we can capture and incorporate the insights from our journey. The integration process can also be helpful after an episode of spiritual emergence or any profound awakening.
Meaning emerges relationally.
Finding meaning can emerge through being in a safe, supportive relationship we can build the bridge between our experience and our everyday life. For this reason, I offer integration services 1:1 through individual coaching or in a structured group.
What is it best for?
-
The real work of psychedelics doesn’t occur on the day of your journey; the real work is everything that you do after. Psychedelic or mystical experiences don’t often communicate in logical ways. Making meaning out of symbols or sensations takes time, and having support and witnesses to our process can help us achieve sustained change.
-
Oftentimes the thing that distinguishes an enriching psychedelic experience from a destabilizing one is our sense of safety and support. Receiving support from a caring peer group (led by a trained professional) provides the foundation we need to delve fully into our experiences.
-
In our culture of prohibition and empirical materialism, we can sometimes feel isolated because of our experiences. Perhaps we feel like we can’t talk about our plant medicine use or spiritual emergence. Finding a community of liked-minded people can help us feel like we’ve come home.
